All month long, we’ll be taking the time to share some of the stories and successes of women.

So if you’re thinking, what does this have to do with the automotive industry, it actually has a lot to do with it! For years, women have received limited credit for their ideas, hard work and dedication in their professions, however Women’s History Month’s whole goal is to change that! 

And more specifically, we want to focus on women in the automotive industry! 

Did you know that huge companies like Chrysler, Cadillac and Chevrolet all had major contributions to their companies by women? It’s true! 

So let’s take a look at some of the powerful women throughout automotive history and celebrate their innovation and achievements! 

Danica Patrick 

Danica is one of the most known women who changed the way we think about motorsports. It’s almost impossible to think about NASCAR without thinking about Danica Patrick! 

Besides being known for her racing career, she’s also a model, an advertising spokesperson and a complete badass. She’s even the most successful woman in the history of American open-wheel racing!

Michelle Christiansen 

Michelle Christiansen can’t be forgotten when thinking about the modern era of vehicle design. She was Acura’s first female exterior designer. Later, she moved on to developing and designing the Honda NSX in addition to several others of their Type-R performance variants! 

There’s no doubt this girl knows cars.

Mary Barra

Mary Barra made history in 2014 when she took the place of Dan Akerson as the CEO of General Motors. She became the first woman in history to become a CEO of a major automobile company! 

Mary has proven that she is one of the strong women who is moving the automotive industry forward.
